Copy trading lets you automatically copy trades from other traders into your own MT5 account. This article walks you through setting up your MarketMates account, connecting MT5 to the CopyMate app, and copying your first strategy.
Setup usually takes less than 10 minutes once your account is verified.
Before you begin, you'll need:
A verified MarketMates Client Portal account
An MT5 CopyMate trading account
The CopyMate mobile app installed
Funds deposited into your MT5 CopyMate account

Once your verification is approved, refresh the page. You'll now see the option to create your MT5 CopyMate trading account. Select Create Live Account to continue.
Select Live Account.
Select MT5 CopyMate.
Choose your account currency.
Choose your account type.
Select Create Account.
The options appear one at a time, so you'll only see the currency choice after selecting MT5 CopyMate, and the account type after choosing your currency. Your account will be created within a few seconds.
Once created, you'll see your MT5 Account ID. Keep this handy, as you'll need it later to connect your account in the CopyMate app.
Your MT5 CopyMate account uses the same password as your MarketMates Client Portal. There's no separate MT5 password to set up.
If you haven't already, download the CopyMate app:

Only download CopyMate from the official app stores.
Open the app and tap First time here? Open an account.
Note that CopyMate has its own login system separate from MarketMates. You'll need to create a CopyMate account even if you already have a MarketMates account.
Fill in your details to create your account. You can use the same email address as your MarketMates account, which can make managing both easier.
Read the Terms & Conditions before ticking the box to accept them.
Log in with your new CopyMate credentials. You'll land on the main dashboard, where you can connect your MT5 account.
From the bottom menu, tap Account.
Tap the settings icon.
Select Connect Account.
Enter your MT5 Account ID.
Enter your MT5 password (same as your Client Portal password).
Tap Connect.
If you don't remember your MT5 Account ID, you can find it by logging back into your MarketMates Client Portal. Double-check your ID and password before connecting; an incorrect password will stop CopyMate from connecting to your account.
Tap Discover to see the available strategies. You can sort by total returns, copiers' profit, performance, and popularity, or tap See All to browse further.
Take time to compare traders rather than picking whoever has the highest returns. Trading styles and risk levels vary a lot from one trader to the next.
Tap on a strategy to see more detail, including:
Total returns
Performance history
Maximum drawdown
Risk score
Number of followers
Performance fee
Past performance doesn't guarantee future results, so it's worth looking at drawdown and risk alongside returns. When you're ready, tap Copy.
Before copying starts, you can adjust:
Trade sizing method
Position sizing
Whether to round up to the minimum trade size
Whether to copy existing open trades
You'll also see the strategy's performance fee before confirming. If you're not sure which settings suit your trading style, check our Copy Trading Resources for an explanation of each option. Once you're happy with your settings, tap Copy.
You'll get a confirmation once your settings are applied, and your account will begin copying trades whenever your selected strategy opens a new position. You can also set a maximum drawdown limit if you'd like extra protection.
Go back to the Account page. You should now see your account marked as Connected, along with your linked MT5 account and the strategy you're copying.
If your MT5 account doesn't have enough funds when your signal provider opens a new trade, your status may switch to Not Connected. If you change your MarketMates Client Portal password, update it in the CopyMate app too.
